The water-soluble ligand THPTA is a very effective additive for click reactions that enables applications in aqueous media using e.g. CuSO4 as catalyst source. It speeds-up the reactions plus maintaining the Cu(I) oxidation state of copper sources so that biomolecules are protected from damage during the labeling.
